This beautiful all-inclusive resort is located in Costa Mujeres. Due to its location behind Isla Mujeres, the strong current that goes on the outside of the island tends to carry the majority of sargassum/seaweed further south. This makes the Majestic Elegance beach less likely to be affected by the sargassum/seaweed concerns that occur in most of the rest of the destination. Majestic Elegance’s beach is wide with soft sand, it is also very safe and swimmable. This Resort is family-friendly, but strongly caters to adults-only. The majority of rooms have king beds (only about a couple dozen rooms have 2 beds and they are only offered in the Junior Suite Category). This is also a very popular resort for destination weddings!
El Dorado Seaside Palms
This all-inclusive resort is adults-only, but there are rumors of it eventually becoming family-friendly in the future. It also shares the property with the El Dorado Seaside Suites. Both resorts share the restaurants, bars and facilities with each other. The Palms side has a more quiet and relaxed vibe. It also has a more old school Mexican style and is very lush and tropical. The beach is nice, but on the smaller side. This resort is almost an hour from the airport, so may not be a great option for a shorter vacation stay. Lastly, If there is soup on the menu, order it!!
Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness
This is a family-friendly all-inclusive resort and it is located about an hour from the Cancun airport. This resort is for those that want a more relaxing vacation. It is a smaller resort and does not have a party or nightlife atmosphere. This resort is perfect for those looking to take a long walk on the beach and explore the local shops and beach bars in Akumal. This is also an ideal place for those that wish to experience phenomenal snorkeling right off the beach with sea turtles!
Sandos Playacar
This is a larger all-inclusive family-friendly resort located over an hour from the Cancun Airport. This is a great resort for kids and also has great family suite options as well as a water park. It typically has a great beach and really great nightly entertainment. The biggest complaint this resort receives is its mediocre food selection at its restaurants, but many enjoy their buffet.
Hotel Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort
This is an all-inclusive family-friendly resort located a little over a half an hour from the Cancun Airport. One of the nice thing about this resort is you have full exchange privileges between the Ventus, Marina and Ventus Ha Resorts. This resort would be perfect for those not looking for a great beach, but those that enjoy more of a pool resort. Many rave about the service and food at this property. There is also great sports fishing options from the resort.
